Aleppo Governor Engineer Azzam Gharib Visits NASTEX 2026 and Highlights the Importance of Supporting Syria’s Textile Industry

Engineer Azzam Gharib, Governor of Aleppo, visited NASTEX 2026, where he toured the exhibition’s pavilions and reviewed the latest technologies, industrial solutions and products presented by participating Syrian and international companies.

The visit also provided an opportunity to explore innovations reflecting the continued development of Syria’s textile sector and its movement towards more advanced and competitive production methods.

A Tour of Machinery, Fabrics and Modern Manufacturing Technologies

The Governor’s tour included several specialised pavilions dedicated to textile machinery, production lines, fabrics, furnishings and modern manufacturing technologies.

He also met with industrialists and exhibitors, who presented the main challenges and opportunities facing the sector, as well as prospects for developing textile manufacturing in Syria.

The discussions addressed the importance of upgrading production facilities, adopting advanced technologies, improving product quality and creating stronger connections between manufacturers, investors and technology providers.

Aleppo’s Historic Role in Syria’s Textile Industry

The visit carries particular importance because of Aleppo’s historic position as one of Syria’s leading industrial centres.

For decades, the textile industry has represented a major pillar of Aleppo’s economy and an important source of employment, production and exports.

The city has accumulated extensive knowledge and industrial expertise across different stages of textile production, from yarn and fabric manufacturing to dyeing, finishing, apparel and furnishings.

Supporting the recovery and development of this sector therefore contributes not only to Aleppo’s industrial revival, but also to the broader strengthening of Syria’s productive economy.

NASTEX Connects Industry, Investment and Technology

NASTEX reinforces this role by bringing manufacturers, investors, technology suppliers and government institutions together on one platform.

The exhibition provides an environment for establishing new partnerships, presenting advanced industrial technologies and opening broader opportunities for investment and the development of textile value chains.

It also enables direct dialogue between the public and private sectors, allowing industrialists to present their needs and discuss practical solutions with relevant institutions and potential partners.

Supporting Productive Industries and the Business Environment

The visit by the Governor of Aleppo reflects the interest of local authorities in supporting initiatives that contribute to revitalising the industrial sector.

It also highlights the importance of strengthening direct communication between government institutions and the private sector to improve the business environment, encourage investment and support productive industries.

As NASTEX 2026 continues, the exhibition is attracting officials, decision-makers and economic delegations from Syria and abroad.

Through its role as a platform connecting industry, investment and technology, NASTEX contributes to improving the competitiveness of Syria’s textile sector and transforming meetings and discussions into practical cooperation opportunities and implementable projects.
